Triund is the most popular trek in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. It is a small hill in the Kangra district, nestled in the foothills of the Dhauladhar range. The trek is known for its well-defined forest trail of Rhododendron and Oak trees. Once you reach the top, the massive Dhauladhar peaks (Mun, Rifle Horn, Arthur's Seat) feel just an arm's length away. At night, the twinkling lights of the Kangra valley below create a magical scene.
Get incredibly close to the snow-capped Dhauladhar mountains. The Moon Peak is clearly visible from the top.
The trail from Gallu Devi temple winds through lush forests, offering cool shade and birdwatching opportunities.
Camping on the Triund ridge is a unique experience with mountains on one side and the valley on the other.
Witness one of the most spectacular sunsets as the alpenglow hits the Dhauladhar peaks.
Start from McLeod Ganj or reach Gallu Devi Temple by cab. Begin the trek (6km). The ascent is gradual but steepens in the last 1km (the '22 curves'). Reach Triund top by afternoon. Enjoy the sunset. Dinner and bonfire. Trek: 9km, 4-5hrs
Wake up to a glorious sunrise. Optionally hike further to Snowline Cafe (1 hr) for closer views. Trek back down to McLeod Ganj via the same route. Reach by evening. Trek: 9km, 3hrs
